Timetoast is an application that makes it possible for users to design and build their own interactive timelines. These timelines can then be shared on the internet by embedding them into any site. It’s possible for anyone to join Time Toast and they can start making their very own timelines straight away. It’s free and the only thing you need is an email address.
Timetoast was launched on 22nd April 2008 as a new timeline application to create and share timelines on the internet. Timetoast was built on Adobe flex and Ruby on Rails.
It is possible to add images to Timetoast, but other timeline applications also have the possibility to add video.
It’s easy to use the Timetoast application to create or look at time lines; you don’t need to register for an account to read other timelines. To create timelines you are walked through the whole thing step by step. You can also embed your timeline in any other site by using the embed link which is available once you have published your timeline. Searching for timelines can be annoying because there are so many irrelevant timelines that pop up when you search for something. There are also lots of completely rubbish timelines and although these aren’t the fault of the time toast team they are very irritating.
You can view timelines without signing up for an account, however if you want to comment or create your own timelines then you will need to sign up for a free account. This is a very standard signup form which only takes a couple of minutes to complete. You will then be sent an email to confirm your address, make sure you read this and then click the link to activate your account. As soon as you have activated your account it is then possible to create your first time line.
Timetoast is completely free to use.
Timetoast is interesting for anyone that has a passion in history and wants to create their own timelines or look at time lines which have already been created. Timelines are a great way to see what happened when and get all that information in perspective. There are other timeline services which offer more advanced features like adding video.
